National Museum of Korea

At the National Museum of Korea, you can fully enjoy a wide range of experiences: six permanent exhibition halls organized by era and theme, a special exhibition hall offering diverse content, docent-led tours that deepen your understanding, a Children's Museum where you can learn through all five senses, various educational programs, and immersive digital content that utilizes cutting-edge technology. The museum is also a healing space in the heart of the city, where you can stroll through a seasonal garden blooming with beautiful flowers and spend a leisurely and enjoyable time. The cultural heritage and natural beauty encountered during a short day trip offer a sense of wonder that exceeds expectations and quenches your intellectual and cultural thirst. The exhibition halls of the National Museum of Korea await you with traces and traditions left by countless people—from the distant past to more recent times, including global heritage. The Paleolithic hand axe, the golden crowns and Pensive Bodhisattva from the Three Kingdoms period, Goryeo celadon, and Joseon-era paintings and calligraphy displayed in the museum serve as a bridge between people of the past and us today—dramatic meeting points of past and present. Through these exhibitions, the museum seeks to transcend time and space and share with you the emotions, thoughts, dreams, and hopes of those who came before. The National Museum of Korea continues to enhance its quality not only through exhibitions but also in key areas such as the collection and preservation of artifacts and academic research. We listen to the voices of the public and strive to produce high-quality content that reflects the cultural desires and needs of the people. By sharing and disseminating the museum’s cultural knowledge and assets, we aim to invigorate the present and illuminate the future as a vibrant and open space. With a firm identity rooted in Korean culture, the National Museum of Korea will further promote exhibitions and international exchange to communicate with the world. Today, Korea is widely recognized by foreigners as a powerhouse of pop culture and IT. We seek to highlight that the roots of such global appeal lie in Korea’s rich and refined cultural traditions. At the same time, we are committed to broadening perspectives and expanding knowledge by introducing the diverse histories and cultures of other countries, based on shared human values. The National Museum of Korea is a place where anyone can come, linger, and find rest at any time. In a world of constant change, the museum offers a space where it’s okay to pause, to look back. We hope visitors can leisurely appreciate the exhibitions, find emotional comfort, reflect deeply, or even let their imaginations soar to gain brilliant inspiration. Whether you visit with family or neighbors, or come alone for a moment of peace, the museum is a nearby sanctuary where you can fully experience the value of both culture and everyday life.
