문사동 問師洞_52*88cm -2024
도봉산 3대 계곡(망월사계곡,무수골,문사동)으로 내 생각에 가장 빼어난 계곡이라 칭하고 싶다. 문사동의 問은 周禮에 따르면 예를 갖추고 누군가를 불러들인다는 의미를 가지고 있어 스승을 모시는곳, 혹은 스승에게 묻는 곳이라는 뜻을가진 계곡으로 그 옛날 도봉서원에 선비들이 스승을 모시고 경치와 더불어 학문을 수양하던 정경이 눈에 선하다.
화구 둘러메고 두시간여를 오르다보니 힘이들어 자주가고 싶지 않지만 묘한. 끌림에 또 올라 사생을 한다.
그런데 그릴적마다 끝맺음을 못하고 망치기 일수여서 선 듯 달려들기 어려웠는데 다시한번 심기일전하여 졸작을 선 보인다.
그해 여름 땀을 뻘뻘흘리며 올라 화구 펼쳐놓고 물소리 새소리에 삼매경에 빠져든 몇해전이 눈에 선하다.
Munsa-dong 問師洞_52*88cm - 2024
Among the three great valleys of Dobongsan (Mangwolsa Valley, Musugol, and Munsa-dong), I would call Munsa-dong the most outstanding. The character "問" in Munsa-dong, according to the Zhou Li (Book of Rites), signifies an act of courtesy and inviting someone in. It implies a place where one seeks a master or inquires from a master. In the past, at the Dobong Seowon (Confucian academy), scholars would gather to honor their masters, studying both the scenery and their academic pursuits, and the scene still feels vivid in my mind.
After climbing for over two hours with my art supplies, it becomes tiring, and I often feel reluctant to return, but there is an inexplicable pull that keeps bringing me back to paint.
Every time I tried to paint it, I struggled with finishing and often ruined the work, so it was difficult to dive in fully. However, with renewed determination, I present this humble piece. I can still vividly recall that summer when I climbed up, sweat pouring down, set up my supplies, and became immersed in the sounds of the water and birds, losing myself in a meditative state.

The works of Suam Park Kyungho reinterpret traditional ink painting techniques in a modern way, respecting tradition while exploring the profound relationship between nature and humanity. His works are not mere landscapes but symbolically express the interconnectedness of humans and nature, conveying messages of stability and healing. Through his delicate brushstrokes and the harmonious use of color in the traditional ink and color technique on hanji, his works bridge tradition and modernity, presenting the contemporary evolution of Korean painting.
